I'm catching up on business in West Lafayette today, so I'm going to leave Dad in the hands of the rest of the family. These reports are mostly second-hand.
- Dad went in for a biopsy early (before 8:30) this morning. For those of you who care about numbers for such things...we were told that there is normally "only" a 2% risk of serious complication associated with sticking a needle in someone's brain. 98% seems pretty high, but I can imagine that 2% seems high if it's your brain. There's also an increased risk due to the required management of Dad's blood clotting ability; they need it to clot during the procedure, but that can cause problems for his heart valve. We're told it isn't a big problem.
- Dad has received lots of visits, phone calls, flowers and some e-mail. (I am scanning his unviewed e-mail for things I need to handle.) He usually avoids drawing such attention, but I know he appreciates it.
- Renel left a message around 11:30. The biopsy indicates a "grave situation." It sounds like it's in the "really bad" end of the spectrum of possibilities.
- Dad is back in his room and just spoke with Cameron.
- I plan to take Dad home tomorrow.
- We should have results from the biopsy on Monday or Tuesday.
- Misha and Nell arrived around 2:00.
- Dad moved to a new room (5042, +1 317 962-6939).
- Change of plans...everyone is going to stay in Indy until the biopsy results are in. Still unknown if Dad will stay at the hospital or with everyone else.
