Role: Program Council areas of responsibility:
- Be the governing body of the Church in its programs, activities, and all matters that are not reserved to the Trustees; and in those matters reserved to the Trustees the Council may, by resolution, make any recommendation to the Trustees
- Review the long range plan for each of the program areas and prioritize goals and objectives for the following year. These recommendations will be sent to the Long Range Plan Committee for their consideration. While the process may be done by each committee and each program area, recommendations may come from the entire Program Council.
- Gather annual reports from each committee into a Congregational Annual Report each May.
- Create an opportunity for committee chairs, group leaders, and any interested members and friends of the congregation to get together and discuss plans and issues.
Structure: Program Council will be comprised of:
- Chairperson who is designated by the Nominating Committee and voted upon at the annual election of officers meeting each year. The primary duty of the Chair is to facilitate the meetings - keeping to an agenda and a 1.5 hour meeting time.
- A representative of each of the Program Areas. These representatives are responsible for attending only 2 meetings each year: LRP meeting and Annual Report Meeting, but are encouraged to attend all meetings.
- Program Council will meet the fourth Thursday of even numbered months (February, April, June, August, October, and December).
- The minister, directors of religious education, and a representative of the Board of Trustees (perhaps the trustee who has no additional responsibilities) will serve on the Program Council.
- Chairpersons of all committees and interest groups are encouraged to attend all meetings.
Activities: In addition to the activities stated in the Role, Program Council will:
- Work with committees to find a suitable chairperson when needed.
- Sponsor an annual program/committee fair to acquaint members of the congregation with the variety of committees in the church. The goal of the fair is to promote membership on committees.
meeting dates (Kitty) --2005/04/29 21:55 UTC
Perhaps a first of the year (following the holidays) meeting in January
would be better attended. (June may also have attendance issues due to
summer vacations.)
